I was born in Tennessee and raised overseas as an MK (missionary’s kid also called “third culture kids”) and spent most of my formative years in the countries of Panama (Central America) and Barbados (West Indies). I am the oldest of three children. I attended Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee (while my parents served in the Phillipines) where I met my wife Marsha. I received my Masters of Ministry degree from Huntington Graduate School of Christian Ministries in Huntington, Indiana. I have completed most of the course work on my PHD with Capella University. My former pastorates include Baltimore, MD; Bluffton, IN; and congregations in North Carolina and Alabama, and now I’m enjoying the great congregation of GFCN. Marsha and I have two children; Chip and Heather both of whom are married and each of them have children. We have four wonderful grandchildren, Avery, Liam, Casey and Callum.
Something few people would know about me is that I love the weather, watching it, experiencing it, living it. I spend some of my time watching the Weather Channel.
If I could vacation anywhere in the world, I would go back to Barbados where Marsha and I celebrated our 25th anniversary. It was one of the most enjoyable trips of my life.
When I was little, I wanted to be either a doctor or a police officer. I remember having the opportunity to go surfing on Christmas day for several years in Barbados (we always had a white [sandy] Christmas)– that was pretty cool.
My favorite TV shows are Law and Order and The Andy Griffith Show (the old black and white ones). My favorite movie is Air Force One. I am currently enjoying the book by Brennan Manning entitled “The Furious Longing of God.”
